Brennig Davies wins BBC Young Writers’ Award 2015
15 year-old Brennig Davies from Barry, South Wales, has won the first-ever BBC Young Writers' Award with Book Trust for his story 'Skinning'

The award was judged by BBC Radio 1’s Alice Levine and novelists Matt Haig and Samantha Shannon, and Brennig was announced as its winner live on BBC Radio 4’s Front Row on Tuesday 6 October. As part of his prize, Sir Ian McKellen read his story on Radio 1. He will also receive a personalised mentoring session with judge and bestselling author Matt Haig.

If you’re thinking Brennig’s name is familiar, it’s because this isn’t his first brush with success. Brennig was runner up in the Literature Wales Prologue to an Adventure creative writing competition (12-15 category). Prologue to an Adventure was a Dylan Thomas-inspired international competition which received entries from 23 different countries as part of Literature Wales’ Developing Dylan 100 project.

A huge congratulations to Brennig for doing so well in both these competitions. We obviously have a very talented writer on our hands!
