The Hive goes live!
Hive South Yorkshire is a new hub for 14 to 25s from across South Yorkshire that offers high-quality writing activities and signposts writing-related opportunities to young people throughout the region through its online network

The project is designed to support everyone - from hobbyist young writers through to those seeking a writing career - to achieve their writing goals and connect with a wider young writers’ community.

Hive offers a mixture of ongoing activities, such as regular free writing groups for teens (commencing autumn 2016) in Sheffield, Doncaster, Rotherham and Barnsley; and programmed events, workshops and writers’ days giving young people the chance to work more closely with professional and emerging writers.

Hive also runs projects with partners in the community, and competitions, open mics and publications to help showcase and celebrate young talent in the region.

Hive South Yorkshire is currently a two year project set up by writer and creative practitioner Vicky Morris, in partnership with the Writing Squad, and Yorkshire literary charity, Grimm & Co.

Hive is funded by Grants for the Arts through Arts Council England and supported by a range of diverse partners including: Off the Shelf Festival of Words; Arvon; Doncaster Community Arts (Darts); Barnsley College; Hear My Voice Barnsley; Barnardos; Sheffield Hallam University; Myplace Rotherham; and Verse Matters, Sheffield.
