Tue 19 Jun 2018
We're delighted to announce that Stuart Maconie and Jean Sprackland will be our evening guest speakers at this year's annual NAWE Conference in York.

On Friday 9 November, Stuart Maconie will be our guest. Stuart is a TV and radio presenter, author, columnist and journalist. He co-hosts the Radcliffe and Maconie Show on BBC Radio 6Music and has written and presents dozens of other shows on BBC Radio. His books include The Pie at Night, The People’s Songs, Hope and Glory, Adventures on the High Teas, Pies and Prejudice and Cider with Roadies.

Our guest on Saturday 10 November will be Jean Sprackland. Jean is a poet and writer. She is the winner of the Costa Poetry Award in 2008, and the Portico Prize for Non-Fiction in 2012. Her books have also been shortlisted for the Forward Prize, the TS Eliot Prize and the Whitbread Award. Jean is Professor of Creative Writing at Manchester Metropolitan University and Chair of the Poetry Archive, the world’s premier online collection of recordings of poets reading their work.

The full conference programme will be published in July.

The NAWE conference explores writing in education in all settings. Its wide-ranging programme includes workshops, presentations and shared panels from creative writing tutors working in schools, colleges, community settings and in higher education at any level.

Booking for this year's conference (Friday 9 - Sunday 11 November 2018, York) is now open. Early booking is recommended, especially if you wish to stay at the conference hotel. Full details of the various packages available can be found here
