AWP Bookfair
Wed 2 Feb 2011 to Sat 5 Feb 2011
At the AWP Conference in Washington DC, there will be a NAWE stall representing UK universities. Any HE members are welcome to purchase space on this stall.
NAWE is offering all member universities the opportunity to be represented within the AWP Conference and Bookfair in Washington DC, February 2011.
For the past few years, a number of NAWE members have taken part in the Annual AWP Conference in the US. This event attracts some 8000 delegates (writers, lecturers, students). The event includes a Bookfair, at which NAWE has paid to have a stall, enabling delegates to discover more about our organization and creative writing in the UK generally.
Next year (2011), the event will be in Washington (AWP's own base) and is likely to be bigger than ever. NAWE intends to represent the depth and diversity of UK Creative Writing programmes, this time booking a double booth that will enable materials from individual universities to be displayed.
In previous years we have relied on UK/NAWE delegates attending to the stall in between their various other commitments to the conference. In Washington we shall have a dedicated team.
We are offering the opportunity for UK universities to be partners in the venture. This would be open to any UK university that is either an institutional member of NAWE, or which has NAWE members amongst its staff. The cost is £100 per university (£200 for those not currently NAWE members). Make sure you login to pay at the member's rate.
We suggest you send the equivalent of 500 pages of A4 (1 ream). You can send whatever you like, e.g. leaflets, prospectuses, bookmarks, publications. We will man the stall for four days.
We have proposed a cost for this year that we trust will be viewed as minimal and therefore conducive to many universities joining the venture. Please note that the production of printed materials (and carriage to Washington) is not included, though NAWE will assist with the necessary arrangements. We will send you more details about this in early January 2011.
If you would like your university - or any specific aspect of your creative writing programme - to be represented, do please confirm this as soon as possible. You may either request an invoice, giving a purchase order number, or you the online payment facility offered here on the right.
