Her work is focused on strategic leadership and development, and includes launching a fully-online pathway for MA Writing for Young People to increase access and inclusion, and spearheading major industry and international-HEI partnerships with the US, Norway and India (e.g. Literature Across Borders: https://www.bathspa.ac.uk/projects/literature-across-borders/).
She also sits as an elected member of Academic Board, scrutinising policy, guidance and the university’s performance, as well as on the Ethics Review and Academic Misconduct, and Appeals committees. Her teaching focuses on Creative Writing, but also encompasses PhD Supervisor Training, Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Practice, Politics & International Relations, and PhD supervision. She has a wide range of experience as an external examiner, including programme approvals and validations.
Alexia runs a UK-wide peer network for PhD Supervisors (https://forms.office.com/e/5xiZjjZN9N), and has just started a postgraduate peer network focused on ethics in creative practice research for academics and PhD students (https://forms.office.com/e/SM9BjVNUnH).
Before BSU, Alexia taught Literature at Essex University, following a role as research project leader at Cambridge. Her main focus, however, was as a non-fiction human-rights editor, including as Executive Editor of an international peer-reviewed academic journal, editing two special issues chosen for the Council of Europe and UN reading lists on prevention of torture.
