Alison May
I'm a published novelist and short story writer, and experienced writing tutor and mentor.
I write as Ally Sinclair, Alison May, and co-authored two novels under the penname Juliet Bell. I have been published by Hera, HQ (HarperCollins), Legend Press and have self-published backlist titles.
My students have gone on to sign with leading literary agents, and to be published by Aria, Avon, Bookouture, HarperFiction, Headline, and HQ, and to self-publish successfully.
I offer one day courses, residential tutored retreats, manuscript appraisal, and one-to-one mentoring. I am also available to give general talks about writing and the writers' life and I can provide bespoke or off-the-shelf workshops for writers' groups and events.
I specialise in working with adults who are writing fiction, particularly at novel length. I will work with writers in any genre, but have a particular interest in crime, women's fiction, accessible literary fiction, and romance. I currently offer initial Zoom one-to-ones on a Pay What You Can basis to make them financially accessible to anyone.
I'm also a founder of the Debut Author Club - a low cost virtual subscription club for early career authors, aimed at demystifying publishing.
