I’m a writer and adult education tutor based in Newcastle upon Tyne.
I teach creative writing in the community for the Workers Educational Association, Gateshead Carers Association and Women’s Health in South Tyneside.
I run workshops on creative writing. These have recently included a ‘Want to write?’ event for beginners at the Books on Tyne Festival and sessions on flash fiction and short story writing for New Writing North.
I was a mentor for the 2015 Lit and Phil Young Writers Awards, supporting young people to produce work for the competition. In 2014, I was a judge for the Hysteria Writing Competition.
I enjoy helping people to write creatively and also have an interest in promoting reading in the community. I facilitate the New Parents Book Group which helps people with young children rediscover and make time for reading and have been a World Book Night giver for the last three years.
I’m available for readings, teaching, workshops, residencies, mentoring, critiques, storytelling and other writing related work. For more information see my website: www.amandaqwriter.com
