Carmel is a novelist, a writer and an educator. She teaches creative nonfiction and creative writing at universities and in community settings.
Her debut novel Seesaw was published by CB editions in 2021, and she is currently finishing her second novel, SOUP.
In 2026 she set up IRLlit. They offer classes, courses and workshops in Creative Nonfiction for adults and kids after-school clubs.
Carmel also provides book coaching, manyscript assesments and editorial services to writers of fiction and creative nonfiction.
Carmel has a Doctorate of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and a Recognised Excellence in Teaching (RET UKPSF) from the University of Glasgow.
