I have written more than twenty books for children and teach creative writing to both children and adults.
I worked as a journalist before I wrote his first book for children, A Dog Called Grk, which was shortlisted for the Branford Boase Award. There are now eight books in the Grk series, each set in a different country around the world.
I have written several other books for children including The Island of Thieves, The Sultan's Tigers, Bearkeeper and the Dragonsitter series. The Dragonsitter was shortlisted for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize. There are now five books in the Dragonsitter series; a sixth in 2016. I have also written one book for adults, God is Brazilian, a biography of the man who introduced football to Brazil.
I regularly visit schools, libraries and literary festivals to talk about my books. I teach creative writing to both children and adults. I have taught creative writing at City Lit in London and with First Story. In 2013, I was writer in residence at the Roald Dahl Museum in Great Missenden.
I live in London with my wife and daughters.
