I am the author of three children's books published by Usborne. I'm available for school visits, creative writing workshops (children or adults), special projects or commissions. I am the project director of Megaphone: www.megaphonewrite.com
It gives me great pleasure to write this letter on behalf of Leila Rasheed. I worked with Leila on many occasions throughout her time in Brussels - both as a recurring visiting artist at the International School of Brussels where I direct the Upper School Library, and as a guest author at the Treasure Trove Bookshop of which I am a founding partner.
On all occasions and in all circumstances, Leila worked generously and well. She was unfailingly engaged and responsive to her young audiences which she charmed with her much-appreciated sense of fun and unusually high dose of creativity. Leila somehow stirred a kind of simple magic with her audiences - a pinch of modesty, a dash of sincerity and a big heaping tablespoon of knowing how to make each child feel special. In all things she said or did, she was attentive, courteous and caring. In return, she earned the affection of everyone who had the opportunity to work with her and, truth be told, her 'fan' club in Brussels is eagerly waiting for her next visit!
I am, therefore, happy to recommend Leila to the users of artscape. I am convinced that she will bring the same fun and delight to all those who have the privilege of her visit or participation in their classroom, library or project designed to encourage reading for pleasure.
