BBC writersroom champions new writing talent in film, television, radio, and theatre. Writers who we've found and nurtured have gone on to be commissioned for programmes ranging from EastEnders to After You’ve Gone, Doctors to Doctor Who, Two Pints of Lager to Torchwood, Young Dracula to Waking the Dead, BBC Films to BBC7, the Radio 4 Afternoon Play to the BBC1 Afternoon Play. BBC Writers Room run schemes targeting talent from a range of sources. They promote writers across all BBC departments, channels, and programmes. They work in partnerships with theatres, writer's organisations, screen agencies, and the wider cultural industries. The BBC help new writers develop their craft through the website and in open sessions around the country with the UK's best writing talent. The BBC hold open competitions for writers, and detail other industry opportunities. BBC writersroom is constantly on the lookout for writers of any age and experience who have exceptional talent, an original voice, and great stories to tell.
