The School of Creative Arts, Film and Media at the University of Portsmouth is looking forward to welcoming Jeri Kroll to the fifth annual Creative Writing conference, 24-25 July.
Associate Professor Kroll is Coordinator of the Creative Writing Programme at Flinders University, Adelaide, South Australia and President of the Australian Association of Writing Programs (AAWP).
The conference will also feature a talk by the CEO of the UK centre for Creative Writing Research Through Practice, as well as other talks and activities.
The theme of the conference will be Writers, Creative Writing and the Contemporary World. Proposals for papers (20 minutes) in the fields of creative writing and/or the critical study of contemporary writing are still being accepted (
new closing date is 25 June 2004).
Participants are invited to interpret the conference theme as they wish. Examples of possible areas of interest might include:
* Themes/ subjects/issues in Creative Writing Pedagogy
* Writers in the 21st Century
* Specific critical and/or creative studies in poetry, fiction, screenwriting, writing for children etc.
* Contemporary Writing and new technology
* Cultural, literary or other studies of creative writing or contemporary literature or film/TV/performance writing etc.
* Book, publishing, performance or reader/audience studies
