Congratulations to Ros Barber, who has won the NAWE Competition organized in the run-up to the Moving Stories website launch. We'd like to thank all those NAWE members who submitted stories, all of which are now on board and offering real inspiration for others to get writing.
Ros's story,
The Slowest Way Home, is a remarkable piece of work, using the simple structure of a train journey to moving effect. She is delighted to have won the prize - a week-long writer's retreat at Shandy Hall, North Yorkshire. Having given birth to a baby daughter last year, she is now feeling the need once more for a concentrated spell of time at her writing.
There were many strong entries submitted, all of which are very much worth your attention. The
Moving Stories site is now live and collecting further stories until 30 June 2004.
You can also catch writer-in-residence Ian McMillan in person at the National Rail Museum in York during Railfest itself. Ian will be running workshops on 31st May, 1st and 2nd June.
