Martin Linton MP hosted a reception at the House of Commons to launch the new Writing Together programme. Rose Flint and David Almond were two of the writers speaking at the event.
NAWE Patron Andrew Motion intoduced the programme and Secretary of State Charles Clarke went on to pledge his commitment to the Writing Together partnership. It was good to hear such firm support for the principle of creativity in education.
NAWE members Kathleen McCreery and Mandy Coe, both of whom - along with Rose Flint - had carried out such successful residencies under the Writing Together banner, were also present, along with many other writers and teachers.
The first Writing Together conference of 2004 is at the Baltic in Gateshead on February 5.
