Towards Real Hypertext: A Shandean Adventure
Thu 21 Aug 2003
NAWE will be running this session at the 2004 AWP conference in Chicago. The presentation will show how, with specially developed online tools, a writer in residence at Shandy Hall (where Sterne wrote Tristram Shandy) will be leading schools in exploring non-linear narrative using Sterne as a catalyst.
NAWE is working with the Laurence Sterne Trust to develop resources that will engage both students and the general public in creative writing on the web.

Sterne's extraordinary approach to narrative is being increasingly recognized as a major influence on the modern novel. This highly innovative project, while focusing on a specific literary collection and venue, is seen as a model which could be replicated in many other situations, bringing together literary heritage, live writing, education and technology in an unprecedented manner.

The panel will include: Patrick Wildgust (Curator, Shandy Hall); Gary McKeone (Arts Council England); Kit Monkman (KMA Interactive Media); Paul Munden (NAWE).
