Reduced fee writing courses at Ty Newydd
Wed 2 Jul 2003
Ty Newydd are currently offering two reduced cost places on two of their July courses: Dreaming the Land (July 14 - 19) and Poetry (July 21 - 26)

Dreaming the Land: July 14 - 19
Tutors: Graham Mort and Sara Maitland

Dreaming the Land will explore notions of selfhood and belonging using actual landscapes around Ty Newydd and drawing upon imagined and remembered  places . It will give participants the opportunity to develop new work in prose and poetry, giving shape to landscapes through language and expressing the ways in which a sense of place has, in turn, shaped memory and imagination.

Poetry: July 21 - 26
Tutors: Gillian Clarke and Imtiaz Dharker

Gillian Clarke is a poet, editor, playwright, writer-in-schools and occasional broadcaster. She is currently working on her 7th full collection.

Imtiaz Dharker works as a documentary film-maker in India and as a freelance writer in Britain. She is also an artist, and conceives her books as sequences of poems and drawings.

Guest reader: Moniza Alvi

The reduced cost for booking on either of these courses is £100.

Courses at the Ty Newydd writers centre provide the opportunity of working closely with 2 professional writers and are a combination of workshops, individual tutorials and readings with time in between for writing. Courses are open to all over the age of 16, and no qualifications are necessary.

A brochure which includes details of all Ty Newydd courses, accommodation, booking conditions, bursaries etc. is available from the centre direct.
