Young writers aged 12 to 16 have the chance to take part in the biggest ever season of creative writing in Essex. Essex County Council's Literature Development is joining with seven local councils to offer courses at selected centres around the county as well as access to an on-line creative writing course.
Live Writing! is open to all young writers looking to develop their work with their peers under the guidance of a highly experienced tutor in exciting sixteen-week courses taking place in Braintree, Hadleigh, Chelmsford, Colchester, Harlow, Rayleigh and Saffron Walden.
There will also be a special visit to each centre from popular Essex writer and songwriter and singer Martin Newell (pictured) whose work appears weekly in the Independent newspaper and regularly on TV and radio, plus a Live Writing! anthology featuring participants' work. All the courses will start late October/ early November.
There will also be a state-of-the-art Live Writing! on-line creative writing course starting in November run by university lecturer Nikki Gamble, based at Anglia Polytechnic University's Chelmsford Ultralab, which is open to all young Essex writers.
The courses are locally managed and details can be obtained by contacting the area telephone numbers listed below.
