Thu 18 Jul 2002
The Creative Reading initiative (CRi) is based in Yorkshire and the Humber and run by Booktrust. It was established by Yorkshire Arts during the National Year of Reading and continues to be supported by them. CRi works with the Education sector to promote activities that focus on individual responses to imaginative writing.
Aims: to develop children's and young people's interest in reading and encourage them to read more widely and adventurously; to engender a reading culture that values all reading and readers; to promote confidence in talking and writing about reading; to provide opportunities for teachers to network, offer mutual support and share good practice; to foster links between schools and libraries.
