Chrissie Gittins wins Belmont Poetry Prize
Thu 18 Jul 2002
NAWE member Chrissie Gittins has won the 9-12 category (won last year by Roger McGough) with her poem 'The Powder Monkey'. She was also a runner-up in the 5-8 category with her poem 'Bradshaw Plots His Revenge'. Both poems will be featured in her new collection, Now You See Me Now You..., available in September.
The Belmont Poetry Prize, for poets who write for young people, is now in its second year. Panels of young readers in each age group select the winning poems. Assuming the prize runs again next year, details will be included in our Events & Opportunities section, under Competitions.
