Literature Training Manager appointed
I have just started in post as the new Literature Training Manager for The
National Association of Writers in Education, The National Association for Literature Development and Lapidus (Literary Arts in Personal Development) for two days per week.
The post will look at a whole range of different areas associated with
training for members of these organisations including designing and delivering training and mentoring programmes and developing printed and on-line material for your use. Some of the work will also be available to
non-members and people in related fields of work.
My background is mainly in the literature sector. I started working way back further than I can remember in bookshops - At The South Bank Centre and in Leeds. I have been an arts worker and director for a community arts company, specialising in writing/publishing projects, and multi-art form work, I have worked as a Literature Development Officer for Oldham MBC, and as a freelance writer and trainer in creative writing/reader development
more recently. As well as working on this post, at present I am developing
a performance on the theme of Creation Myths with a musician and an artist for the Commonwealth Games Festival in the North West. I am also just finishing working for Lancashire County Council on a project called
Everybody's Reading, which is funded by the Wolfson Fund and the Department of Culture Media and Sport.
Each of the organisations involved in setting up the Literature Training
Manager post have recently sent out a Training Needs Survey via Philippa
Johnston which many of you will have received and returned. This will form the basis of my first stage of work which will be designing and planning.
I would very much welcome any further suggestions, thoughts and ideas from people on training and these related areas of work to feed into this process over the next couple of months. You can email me on a.caldwell@virgin.net
or ring me tel. 07818 052108. I look forward to meeting some of you and
working with you over the next year.
