NAWE Professional Development ProgrammeWe are delighted to announce this year's Professional Development Programme for NAWE members, which includes seminars for both writers and teachers (in partnership with Bath Spa University), and another Retreat, this time hosted by Ty Newydd, the National Writers' Centre for Wales.
After its first pilot year, the one-to-one service,
Taking Strides,
is being expanded and you can now contact me at any time to book a
place. The feedback from members who took part in the first year was
very positive, and shows that writers find it very useful to have
support and objective feedback on their work in progress. Our annual
Retreat
has already proved very popular, which goes to show the need for space
for reflection away from the pressures of teaching to help us renew our
writing lives.
This year's programme also launches a new
partnership with Bath Spa University, after an in-depth consultation
process with writers and students in the area. We are offering
seminars for teachers interested in creative writing, and
seminars for writers
wanting to develop work in education, museums/art galleries and in the
public art sphere. We will also be liaising with other universities
throughout the UK regarding the potential scope to extend this type of
work.
