Summer update (and closedown)
Fri 28 Jul 2006
Just before closing the office for a two-week break, we are pleased to announce the nine schools that will be taking part in our Writers in Schools Research Programme.

After a difficult selection process, the following nine schools have been chosen to take part in our three-year programme, which has been funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation as part of the ongoing work of the Writing Together partnership. Five secondary and four primary schools are included, spread throughout England (according to National Strategies territories as shown in brackets).

Barlby Primary School (London)
Felpham Community College, Bognor Regis (South East)
Pensans Primary School (South West)
Westwood School, Leek (West/East Midlands)
Great Bowden Primary School, Market Harbrough (East/East Midlands)
Belfairs Media Arts School, Southend (East/East Midlands)
De La Salle Humanities College, Liverpool (North West)
Oldershaw Secondary School, Wirral (North West)
Husthwaite C. of E. Primary School (North East/Yorkshire & Humberside)

We are delighted to have a set of such enthusiastic schools involved. Further planning will now take place over the summer, with the first residencies due to commence in early October 2006.

We should like to thank all those schools who have expressed interest in the project and we very much hope to be able to support them in other ways in due course.

The NAWE office will be closed between 29 July and 13 August 2006. We will endeavour to reply to all email, telephone and postal enquiries as soon as possible after that date. If there are any seriously urgent enquiries to be made during the break, please address them to Gill Greaves.
