Barn Owl Books are publishing this guide to Poetry for Children, with over 200 reviews and informative articles about poetry. Related events include a Children's Bookshow, Poetry Competition and Universal Verse Exhibition.
The editors of Universal Verse, Deborah Hallford and Edgardo Zaghini, are specialists in children's literature having previously edited Outside In: Children's Literature in Translation published by Milet.

The theme of this year's Children's Bookshow is 'Poetry Matters'. A national tour during October and November will be complemented by a programme of school workshops, supported by Arts Council England. Further information from Sian Williams on 020 8960 0602 Sianwilliams1@gmail.com

The first Children's Poetry Bookshelf National Write-a-Poem Competition for 7-8 and 9-11 year-olds runs until 16 October 2006. Judging panel chaired by NAWE member Ian McMillan. Full details on the CPB website.

The Universal Verse poetry collection will be housed permanently in the new Resource Centre at East-Side Educational Trust, Suite 16, Perseverance Works, 37 Hackney Road, London E2 7NX, open by appointment Monday to Friday, 10-5pm. www.eastside.org.uk
