We are delighted to announce that the opening night of NAWE's Conference 2009 will feature Graham Swift in conversation and reading from his latest work, 'Making an Elephant', which explores "what it means to feel that writing and reading are an essential part of living".
Graham Swift is the author of eight acclaimed novels and a collection of short stories. With
Waterland he won the Guardian Fiction Prize (1983), and with
Last Orders the Booker Prize (1996). Both novels have since been made into films.
Conference proposals are currently invited, with a deadline of 31 May. The full Conference programme will be published in July.
