New self-publishing company, Acorn Independent Press, hosts the world’s ?rst 5-Aside Story as part of London-based storytelling festival, YARN.
From midnight on the 18th February - 23rd February writers can visit
Acorn Independent Press’ blog and contribute just 5 sentences to the story started by New York Times and Sunday Times bestseller, Chris Cleave.
Chris Cleave, author of The Other Hand and Incendiary says:
‘I hope everyone will have as much fun as I did writing ?ve lines for this project.
There are a lot of sharp writers out there now with their skills of pithy expression
honed by Twitter, who can pack worlds into ?ve lines. This ?ve-a-side match is a
timely and likeable game by YARN and Acorn Independent Press to celebrate the act
of storytelling and see what new places it can go to. And speaking as the kid who was
always picked last for ?ve-a-side, it’s a pleasure to ?nally get to play.’
Leila Dewji, Editorial Director says:
‘We wanted to do something fun to get everyone storytelling. By hosting it online,
even people who can’t attend YARN festival can be part of it. It will have an energy
of its own and we are really excited to see how this story develops. We love the lively,
inclusive feel of YARN and are proud to be making our debut on the festival scene as
their partner.’
Extracts of the story will be performed and recorded every day of the festival and the
footage will be up on both the Acorn Independent Press and YARN Festival sites.
Acorn will also be hosting another event as part YARN:
