In August, New Writing North will be running a three-day writing summer school in South Shields. Whether you're a young person with a novel in their bottom drawer or would just like to try something new, it's a chance to work with professional writers, experiment with writing styles and genre and meet other young writers in the area.

The sessions are:

Wednesday 8 August: Vampire and dystopian fiction with Amy Mackelden

Thursday 9 August: Write your own script with Carina Rodney

Friday 10 August: Comic book writing with Daniel Clifford

All sessions will run from 11am-3.30pm and will be held at South Shields Museum and Art Gallery. They are open to anyone aged 11-18 and are free to attend. Participants can sign up for one of the sessions or all three; to register, just email the name, contact details and the sessions(s) of the young person who is interested in attending to laura@newwritingnorth.com.

Sessions are for a maximum of 15 writers and if they are over-subscribed priority will be given to residents of South Shields.
