Nominations open for World Book Night 2013
Nominations for books to be given out for free at next year's World Book Night will begin on Monday (23rd July).
Members of the public will be asked to choose up to 10 of their favourite books before the closing date at the end of August.
A final list of 10 titles will be then be chosen from the suggestions by a panel of judges, chaired this year by journalist and presenter Mariella Frostrup.World Book Night said the judges would be looking for books that are "narrative-driven, ideally not too long so as to be accessible to all".
They must have been published in paperback in the UK. This year’s WBN saw tens of thousands of books handed out at bookshops and libraries, with thousands more given away in prisons, care homes, hospitals and hostels.Julia Kingsford, WBN c.e.o., said: “40% of people in this country have Level 1 literacy - the government set minimum and equivalent of grade D-G in GCSE English and it's these people who can benefit most from World Book Night.
“The feedback we've had from this year's celebration has been almost overwhelming with incredible stories of how books and reading can and do change lives.”World Book Night 2013 will be held on 23rd April.
