Poem: 'Revolution'
To celebrate the latest edition of Myths of the Near Future magazine, we bring you 'Revolution' by Mike Di Placido

Revolution

And when the big day comes
(when the bugles blast and the underclass march)
you'll see them filing out from the estates -
in Burberry and track suits and trainers -
led by pit-bulls and snotty-nosed kids.
And there'll be bonfires of catalogues
and credit cards

and the fortressed rich
will giggle nervously
behind their moats and security gates -
huddled together in gold and lead-lined rooms -
as they watch the approaching rabble
on CCTV's and giant video screens.

Mike Di Placido is a poet based in North Yorkshire. His latest collection is A Sixty Watt Las Vegas. The latest edition of Myths of the Near Future, Revolution, is available as an ebook in the Kindle store.
