BHAC 2019 Poetry Competition: Open for entries
Deadline: Sun 20 Oct 2019
Brighton & Hove Arts Council, in partnership with the University of Brighton, invite submissions of poems not exceeding 40 lines on any theme or subject are invited from anyone over the age of 16 years who is resident, working, studying or was born in Sussex for this year's Open Competition. The Young Students Competition, with free entry, is open to students under 30 years of age.

Judge: Dr Jess Moriarty MA, course leader of creative writing at the University of Brighton.

First prize – £1000
Runner up – £250
Second runner up – Work, Write, Live creative writing course (University of Brighton)
First prize – student competition – £150
Four highly commended prizes – £25

Entries for the Open Competition will cost £6 for the first poem plus £4 for all subsequent poems with no limit to the number of entries.

Winners will be invited to read their work on stage at the BHAC Poetry Festival on 24 November 2019.
