CA x Bloomsbury Competition
Deadline: Fri 1 Dec 2023
This autumn, the Classical Association is delighted to be running a competition to give girls, young women and non-binary writers aged 19 or under based in the UK and the Channel Isles the opportunity to have their creative work appear alongside bestselling authors Madeline Miller and Jennifer Saint!

We are teaming up with Bloomsbury Publishing to award a very exciting prize: the overall winner will be offered the chance to be published in a collection of essays and new writing called Women Re-Creating Classics: Contemporary Voices.

Our judges are looking for new voices inspired by the ancient world and we particularly look forward to receiving entries from writers of diverse backgrounds and identities. Submit a piece of creative writing of 1500 words or less, inspired by the classical world, and you could be a published writer!

There is no specific prompt or any restriction upon the type of classical topic you might discuss or indeed the genre of your written creative work. You might choose to submit a short story, creative essay, annotated translation, poem, short play, rap or any other written, creative medium.

You must be aged 19 or under as of 23:59 GMT by the deadline of Friday 1 December 2023.
