Creative Residency at Fair Isle Studio
Deadline: Sat 31 Aug 2019
Call for applications from artists, makers, designers, writers, musicians, researchers or anyone with a creative practice seeking self-funded development time. Fair Isle is Britain’s most remote inhabited island, sitting half way between Shetland and Orkney.

At just 3 miles long and 1.5 miles wide, it is home to a close-knit community of around 60 people. Fair Isle has rich history, culture and wildlife and is much celebrated for its knitwear and music. Many artists, writers, designers and musicians have found inspiration on this tiny island. We are delighted to offer Fair Isle’s first creative residency space.

Fair Isle Studio offers space for anyone with a creative practice wishing for devoted work or research time. It is based within ‘Lower Leogh’ a fully fitted traditional Shetland croft house with comfortable living space and separate versatile studio space.

As this is a self-funded residency, there are no outcome expectations towards the resident. We hope residents will use the space to their own creative advantage without pressure.

We are currently taking applications for August 2019 and onwards.

Minimum stay 2 weeks, preferred stay 4 weeks.
Residency fee: £630 for 2 weeks or £1,260 for 4 weeks.
