Playwrights' Studio, Scotland: Support for Playwrights 2022

We are delighted to announce that applications are now open for Playwrights' Studio, Scotland's support for playwrights this coming year. Whatever experience or career stage, there is support available for you. Deadlines from Tuesday 12 October 2021.

There have been a number of updates to the type of support we're offering for 2022, reflecting the needs playwrights have expressed to us.

These include:
A fee of £1,050 payable to playwrights on the Playwright Mentoring Programme to acknowledge the time writers will spend with their mentor as part of the programme.
The Play Development Bursary (formerly New Playwrights Award) now includes £3,634 financial support, equivalent to a first draft fee under the Scottish Society of Playwrights/Federation of Scottish Theatre commissioning agreement.

One-to-one online sessions: If you are thinking of applying but have any questions or would like to discuss the application process before you do, we are running one-to-one online sessions on Friday 1 October between 10am and 6pm with Playwrights’ Studio staff. Each session is fifteen minutes and take place via Zoom.

To book an online session, simply email info@playwrightsstudio.co.uk by 12noon on Thursday 30 September with the following details:
• What support you are looking to apply for
• A couple of sentences about what you would like to discuss (so we know who is best to meet with you)
• Your general availability on Friday 1 October
• Any communication or access support we can provide to facilitate your participation in the meeting

We aim to meet with everyone on 1 October, however, if there is high demand for these sessions, we may need to arrange alternative dates.
