We publish short and long fiction, as well as lyric essays, with a focus on aesthetic ambition and stylistic and structural experimentation. Our titles have been listed for the Republic of Consciousness Prize, the Edge Hill Story Prize, the Miles Franklin Literary Award, and other accolades. 

Although Splice leans towards literary fiction, our catalogue includes fiction in genres such as SF, magical realism, absurdism, surrealism, urban fantasy, horror, and speculative history. The primary interest for Splice isn't story so much as language. The press is continually seeking fresh, inventive, and experimental prose styles and narrative structures. Unique and idiosyncratic approaches to those elements of fiction will impress us more than a writer's choice of genre and subject.

All submissions must be accompanied by some evidence of familiarity with the Splice catalogue (eg. a selfie with one of our books!) or a small reading fee (£3). There are no restrictions on who can submit to Splice.
