Spread the Word: The Disabled Poets Prize 2025

The 2025 Disabled Poets Prize is open for entries from deaf and disabled poets aged 18+ based in the UK. The Prize is looking to find the best, original work created by deaf and disabled poets across two categories: Best Single Poem and Best Unpublished Pamphlet.

 This year’s judges are Khairani Barokka, Polly Atkin and Jamie Hale.

Prizes include cash, development support, and for the winner of the Best Unpublished Pamphlet, a publishing deal with Verve Poetry Press. You can enter online, or by post. Entries close on Monday 4 November at 1pm.

Spread the Word are running two FREE online and BSL interpreted workshops to support entrants in making submissions to the Prize on 9 and 10 October.

Founded by the poet Jamie Hale, this year’s Prize partners are CRIPtic Arts, Spread the Word, Verve, The Literary Consultancy and Arvon Foundation. The 2025 Prize is generously sponsored by Authors' Licensing and Collecting Society.
