The Bridport Prize 2026: Bursaries for underrepresented writers

Applications are invited from underrepresented writers to The Bridport Prize bursary scheme offering free entry to The Bridport Prize competition in any category (short story, poetry, flash fiction, novel & memoir).

New this year is the student bursary scheme which offers 100 free entries to full time school, college and university students aged 16+.

Eligibility:

For the purposes of the scheme, we define under-represented as one or more of the following categories:
Disabled
Ex-offender
LGBTQIA+
Long term illness
Low household income
National, ethnic, linguistic, religious or other minority group
Primary carer
