2020 One year novel writing course with Janis Mackay
Sat 1 Feb 2020 to Sat 7 Nov 2020
Make 2020 the year you write that novel, in good company, with support, lots of guidance in the craft of fiction, inspiration and in a conducive creative atmosphere led by novelist and tutor Janis Mackay.

Now in its fifth year, this one year course gives participants a supportive structure to guide them through the process of writing the first draft of a novel. The course is held one Saturday per month, starting February. In addition to the ten workshops (held in Portobello, Edinburgh) participants will also have two one-to-one tutorials.

The course will give writers a good introduction to character building, plot, sense of place, dialogue, point of view, time and how to write in such a way that writers show the action rather than tell us about it. Each workshop focuses on a different crafting technique, with lots of opportunity for writing in class, sharing and feedback.

This course is ideal for someone who has an idea for a novel, but not quite sure how to get started, or for someone who has already written novels but would like to be part of a structured and supportive group as they write their next novel. All styles and genres welcome.

Ten places only.

Dates: 1 February - 7 November 2020, 10am – 5pm
Location: Portobello, Edinburgh
Cost: £1250

If you would like more information email Janis; or you can go direct to my website where you can book a place on the course.
