A Sense of Place at The Biscuit Factory with Amanda Quinn
Sun 18 May 2025 to Sun 18 May 2025
Discover the importance of place in your writing with experienced writer and tutor, Amanda Quinn. Whether you’re writing about real or fantasy worlds, you’ll learn how to create and describe settings in vivid detail. You’ll explore how settings interact with characters and how they can set the mood of a piece of writing.

There’ll be plenty of writing time and the opportunity to share your work and receive feedback (if you want to). You’ll leave with some stories and ideas to work on as well as more prompts and information to help you keep writing after the session.

This workshop is suitable for beginners or anyone wanting to improve their writing skills in an inspiring and supportive environment.

Amanda Quinn is a writer and tutor who lives in Newcastle upon Tyne. Her short stories and poems have been published in print and online. She has taught creative writing since 2015 and has delivered courses and workshops online and in community centres, libraries, museums, day centres, and schools across North East England to encourage and support people to write. She is particularly interested in helping people benefit from being creative in their everyday lives and her sessions are designed to be enjoyable as well as inspiring.
