Arvon 5-Day Residential Writing Week: The Essay - Playing with form with Amy Key and Eli Goldstone
Mon 3 Oct 2022 to Sat 8 Oct 2022
In this course with Amy Key and Eli Goldstone you will explore the exciting and diverse forms the literary essay can take, including memoir, creative non-fiction, literary journalism and the lyric essay.

You’ll discuss who you write for and why; what you choose to say in your essays, and how one reaches for a specificity of voice. You'll also cover editing and how to find routes to publication, including working with agents and commissioning editors.

Amy Key is a poet and writer. Her essays have appeared in At The Pond, Granta, the Poetry Review, and elsewhere. Her first work of non-fiction, Arrangements in Blue, will be published in 2023;

Eli Goldstone’s debut novel Strange Heart Beating was published in 2017 and won a Betty Trask Award. Her essays have been published by the Guardian and the New Statesman among others.
