Arvon at Home: Craft of Writing with Bernardine Evaristo in conversation with Cathy Rentzenbrink
Arvon’s Craft of Writing sessions are invigorating deep dives into the creative processes of some of the finest writers at work today.
Over the course of 80 minutes, they engage in expansive conversations about different facets of their craft: how they get their ideas; how they develop characters or build stories; or, more simply, how they make sentences. Each live session includes two audience Q&As.
Bernardine Evaristo has published eight books of fiction and verse. Girl, Woman, Other won the Booker Prize in 2019, Fiction Book of the Year at the British Book awards, as well as the Indie Book Award for Fiction. Her other books include Mr Loverman, The Emperor’s Babe, Lara, Soul Tourists, Hello Mum, Blonde Roots and Island of Abraham. Evaristo’s writing also includes short fiction, drama, poetry, essays, literary criticism, and projects for stage and radio. She is professor of creative writing at Brunel University. Her many awards and honours include an MBE in 2009.
For this Craft of Writing Session Bernardine is joined by Cathy Rentzenbrink, author of The Last Act of Love and A Manual for Heartache.
