Arvon at Home Masterclass: Making the leap to publication with Sophie Lambert
Thu 5 Aug 2021 to Thu 5 Aug 2021
Are you a budding author eager to find out more about how to make the leap to publication? This masterclass will offer invaluable practical and editorial advice that will take you through the steps towards publication, and in particular the role of the literary agent.

Sophie Lambert, director of C&W Agency, represents a wide range of writers of literary and commercial fiction, narrative non-fiction, memoir, travel and nature writing, popular science and history.

Sophie will take you through the process of submitting to an agent, how to ensure that your submission stands out, how to know who best to approach and how the relationship between author and agent works.

Sophie always works very closely with authors editorially – from multiple drafts of novels where necessary to helping put together brilliant and enticing non-fiction proposals – and will discuss what is expected and required prior to and post submission. She will demystify the role of the agent, as well as the broader publishing world.

She is happy for you to throw all your questions at her, and will come along to the masterclass with several fascinating and different examples of books having made their way from submission through to publication.

Sophie started her career as a bookseller on Charing Cross Road and became a buyer for Blackwell’s and later for Foyles. She then moved to New York and worked at Janklow & Nesbit Associates, which opened her eyes to the world of agenting. On her return to the UK she joined Tibor Jones & Associates and started her own list, before moving to join Conville & Walsh in 2012.
