Arvon: Masterclass: Fiction - Making the change with Claire Adam
Tue 18 Nov 2025 to Tue 18 Nov 2025
Join multi-award winning writer Claire Adam, author of Golden Child and Love Forms, as she guides you through the process of identifying change in your story.

As storytellers, you might find yourselves drawn to write novels or novellas, short stories or flash fiction. You might want to write something contemporary or historical, in genres ranging from realist to sci-fi, horror to, even, romantasy. But the principle that underpins stories of every shape and size is change: it might be obvious or subtle, tangible or abstract, but some sort of change there must be.

You’ll be encouraged to consider other well-known short stories and novels to see how the best authors manage to portray change on multiple levels. You’ll come away with a deeper understanding of how stories work, and new tools to troubleshoot and elevate your own writing.
