Arvon New Autumn 2021 Season - Book Now
Wed 1 Sep 2021 to Sat 18 Dec 2021
Arvon's new autumn season of in-person and at-home creative writing courses and events is now open for booking. The autumn season, from September to December 2021, will see the return of Arvon favourites while highlighting new literary voices across our programme.

Totleigh Barton is the place to be if you're gearing up to submit. Prepare for Publication with agent, publisher and “pitch doctor” James Spackman and Borough Press Publishing Director Suzie Dooré, who'll take you through every step of the process. With a host of tips and a visit from guest agent Emma Paterson of Aitken Alexander, you’ll come away with the knowledge to give your book the very best chance of success. You can also punch up your fiction work-in-progress with tutors Richard Skinner and Amanda Smyth, who'll help you create intricate stories which ring true.

At Lumb Bank, poets Kayo Chingonyi and Helen Mort will lead a week of creative challenges aimed at refreshing your approach to poem-making. They'll be joined by exciting new guest reader Romalyn Ante. You can also enjoy one of our famous Starting to Write courses; whether you are completely new to writing, or you have made a start and are unsure how to continue, tutors Carys Bray and Stevie Ronnie will explore with you the tools and techniques you can use to become a better and more confident writer.

The Hurst will see a new Political Non-Fiction course tutored by Melanie McGrath and Melissa Benn. You’ll look at the art and craft of non-fiction and consider what makes a text really sing. Plus, you'll enjoy a guest reading from the incomparable Amrou Al-Kadhi. The Hurst is also the perfect place to dig into Nature Writing. You can join Peter Fiennes and Katharine Norbury to hone your nature writing skills and explore the stunning surrounding gardens, hills and woods.

From the comfort of your own home, you'll be able to join Cathy Rentzenbrink and Raynor Winn for their Arvon at Home online course on Demystifying Memoir. Cathy and Raynor will get you writing in a supportive and friendly environment and you’ll leave full of confidence, knowledge and with a plan of how to carry on with your work-in-progress – or get started in the first place. We also have more Live Guest Readings and Masterclasses to come. Enjoy two dedicated hours of Finding Your Voice as a short story writer with Lucy Caldwell and readings with authors such as Jon McGregor and Rashmi Sirdeshpande.

Concessions: Half-price concessions available on Arvon at Home Masterclasses, Live Guest Readings, Craft of Writing Sessions and Writing Weeks and the grant fund for in-person 5-Day Courses has reopened.
