Arvon Online Writing Week: Fiction Work-in-Progress - Building strong foundations with Cynan Jones and Jessie Greengrass
Mon 9 Dec 2024 to Fri 13 Dec 2024
This is a week for writers with a work in progress – perhaps you’re halfway through a novel or story collection, or perhaps you’ve got a full first draft but you’re not sure of the next steps. This is where an experienced eye on your text can work wonders.

Through encouraging workshops and supportive 1:1 sessions, award-winning writers Jessie Greengrass and Cynan Jones will help you clarify what kind of work now needs to be done.

Is there potential in your text you’ve not seen? Are there ways to tighten the structure or polish the sentences, or to pace your story more effectively? Do your characters need greater specificity to be convincing?

In some cases it’s a case of giving your story a little TLC; in others it’s time to take a step back and build stronger foundations before you forge ahead. Either way, the key thing is to embrace the work.

This online course will help you learn how to redraft and edit your own work, present hands-on ways to survey your text, and give you the skills you need to build the strongest story you can.
