Arvon: Writers’ Retreat at Lumb Bank (NEW)
Mon 11 Oct 2021 to Sat 16 Oct 2021
Give your writing the time and space it deserves on a five day Writers’ Retreat at Lumb Bank. This is an opportunity to spend time away from the stresses and strains of daily life, surrounded by nature.
Our retreats are offered in Covid-secure environments, leaving you with peace of mind as you plan your writing week and explore the beautiful landscape. Whether you are starting something new, or pushing on to finish your latest draft, make time to free your imagination. There are 12 places available.

Lumb Bank is an 18th-century millowner’s house in West Yorkshire which once belonged to Ted Hughes. It’s set in 20 acres of steep woodland, with breathtaking views to the valley below – a Pennine landscape of woods and rivers, weavers’ cottages, packhorse trails and ruins of old mills. It is half a mile from the historic village of Heptonstall and two miles from Hebden Bridge. Lumb Bank’s terraced gardens offer spectacular views of the wooded valley, Lumb Chimneys and Colden Clough.

This retreat features group cooking Tuesday – Friday. Group cooking is an opportunity to meet with your fellow writers and find out what they’ve been up to.

You’ll have access to the large barn space with sofas and desks and a well-stocked library.
