Avant-garde Poetics and Virtual Reality
Tue 12 Jun 2018 to Thu 14 Jun 2018
This Manchester Met short course will introduce you to composing poetry in other than the usual ways. Led by guest artist Johnny Payne from Mount Saint Mary's University, Los Angeles, USA.
We will experiment with Dadaist and surrealist techniques, as well as introducing you to a VR experience called Odyssey, co-created by Johnny Payne and Kimo Oades, which takes place in 3D with Google cardboard and an Android phone.

Readings will range from portions of Homer's Odyssey to poetry by Tristan Tzara, Rocío Cerón, and Jerome Rothenberg.

Moving at lightning speed, students will write a dozen or more poems, producing a chapbook in three days.

Dates: 12-14 June 2018
Location: Manchester Metropolitan University, All Saints Building, All Saints, Manchester, M15 6BH
Cost: £350.
