Bibliotherapy course
Fri 22 Sep 2023 to Fri 1 Dec 2023
Have you ever wondered about the link between reading and wellbeing? Then this course might be for you…. Taught by a qualified instructor (BA, MA, FHEA, with over 15 years of teaching within HE), the course runs every fortnight on Friday mornings from 22 September – 1 December 2023.

Bibliotherapy dates back to ancient times when libraries were seen as sacred places where answers and healing could be found. This course will explore reading as an active strategy to help oneself and others cope with life’s challenges so that we can flourish and thrive, looking at the wider and deeper ways in which fiction and non-fiction can 'find' people, emotionally and imaginatively, helping develop resilience, self-esteem and interpersonal relationships. Participants will be introduced to the neurological benefits of reading “for pleasure” and to a wellbeing model to help us curate our book choices and the dialogue around them to help maximise the wellbeing benefits of reading.
