Brand new creative writing courses from Writing East Midlands

WEM is launching five brand-new creative writing courses for poets, life-writers, and novelists.

If you’re struggling with writer’s block, join Clare Harvey for this explorative idea generation workshop, in which she will guide you through a literary upcycling technique intended to catalyse your own writing. Look forward to unexpected ideas, heaps of imagination, and lively discussion, taking place Saturday 11th March 2023, 11 am – 2 pm at the Malt Cross, Nottingham. Book your tickets here

For writers seeking practical techniques to bring movement to their action scenes and suspense to their narratives, Megan Taylor’s 4-week course is just for you! Through playful creative exercises, you will learn how to ramp up the tension and fill your stories with chilling atmospheres that will haunt your reader for years to come. If you have a story to tell, a unique perspective to impart, or a relatable experience to share, don’t miss this 3-week life-writing course with widely published memoir writer Shreya Sen-Handley. Over three weeks, you’ll begin to craft an authentic and gripping memoir, true to you and your story. Build a consistent and energetic poetry-writing routine with advice from multi-award-winning poet Panya Banjoko on this 6-week email-based course, starting Wednesday 4th January. Every week, you’ll receive a new module filled with practical creative writing exercises, as well as the opportunity for encouraging and constructive feedback on up to 60 lines of poetry directly from Panya. This 6-week course is focused on traditional publishing and features live Q&As with industry professionals. Receive direct and targeted feedback from published author Emma Pass on how to refine your novel pitch and submission package and learn how to secure a literary agent for your novel.
