Comma Press Short Story Course with Guy Ware, London
Thu 2 Apr 2020 to Thu 3 Sep 2020
This course is about the short story. Over the course of six workshops, you’ll get a handle on the predominant narrative structures used by short story writers, and implement them in your own work.

Six workshops are held over a six month period, on the first Thursday of the month, to enable you to complete writing assignments.

Completing set writing tasks between workshops, and receiving structured, peer-driven feedback, you’ll develop 3 short stories to completion, with tailored advice on how to shape the story, and how to improve the characterisation, dialogue, and narrative voice.

Comma Press, one of the UK’s leading publishers of short fiction, is always looking for new voices in short fiction and it’s hoped that this course will unearth and develop contenders for one of their showcases of new writers.

Guy Ware is the author of more than thirty short stories, including the collection, You Have 24 Hours to Love Us (Comma, 2012), and three novels. He won the London Short Story Prize 2018 and was longlisted for the Galley Beggars Story Prize 2019. His latest book, The Faculty of Indifference, was published in September 2019.
