Over the course of six workshops, you’ll get a handle on the predominant narrative structures used by short story writers, and implement them in your own work. The course runs over six months, meeting once a month in Middlesbrough. Workshops given by Pauline Plummer, writer, poet, tutor and publisher.
Completing set writing tasks between workshops, and receiving structured, peer-driven feedback, you’ll develop 3 short stories to completion, with tailored advice on how to shape the story, and how to improve the characterisation, dialogue, and narrative voice.
Pauline Plummer has three collections of poetry, most recently Bint (Red Squirrel Press 2011), a novella in verse, From Here to Timbuktu (Smokestack Press 2012 - a Read Regional Choice) and a collection of short stories Dancing With a Stranger (Red Squirrel 2015). She has taught creative writing in universities, colleges, community centres, schools, art galleries both in UK and in Sierra Leone and Greece. She was and is a founding editor of Mudfog Press, a Teesside based community publisher. She is currently working on a novel.
