Digital Media Network
Tue 21 Jan 2014 to Tue 21 Jan 2014
The third Digital Media Network will be held in collaboration with the University of Winchester and Winchester's excellent Digital Creative Hub

The third Digital Media Network will be held in collaboration with the University of Winchester and Winchester's excellent Digital Creative Hub. The evening will highlight some of the support available to Digital Creatives, both via regional organisations and through the Arts Council. As with each Network event we will also be celebrating the wealth of creative practises in the area, and will be joined by practitioners who are based in and around the city.

Speakers confirmed:

Nona Hunter, Relationship Manager: Creative Media at Arts Council England, will outline the Arts Council’s priorities around Creative media, digital and technology, and give some case studies of projects that ACE have funded and supported. Nona will also discuss some of the funding streams that are currently available, focusing on collaborations between the digital/tech sector and the arts and culture sector.

Cheryl Butler, Head of Culture for Eastleigh Borough Council will be speaking about the new Tech Hub in Eastleigh that’s due to open in the spring, and about the exciting opportunities that this will offer to artists and start-ups.

Renaud Clarke, Sales Director at Atelier Studios,  will discuss Atelier Studio's work and his career to date, and share his thoughts on digital marketing, as well as offer advice for practitioners in the early-mid stages of their careers who are working in Digital Media in Hampshire.

Recent graduate of the University of Winchester, Darren Woodiwiss, will talk about his career to date, working as a freelance app developer whilst studying, and since graduation as a lecturer at the University of Winchester. Darren’s work has included the Total Theatre Edinburgh Festival Fringe App Riddle Route for Winchester Cathederal and various other projects for local digital agencies.

The event will take place from 6 - 8pm at the University of Winchester’s West Downs Centre. For directions please see http://www.winchester.ac.uk/contactus and follow the West Downs campus directions. Just a note of warning, the SO22 5HT postcode won’t work with sat navs, as this will direct to the housing behind. If you are driving either follow the directions on the website or use SO22 5DL, the post code for the County Arms pub which is just opposite the venue.

The Digital Media Network is run by Creative Network South in collaboration with the University of Portsmouth.
